Los Angeles, California.

We spent most of our time in the Downtown Los Angeles area and Zadie was extremely quick in picking up bus routes and metro schedules. I'm sure it's from all the traveling she does, but she had a knack for finding her way through train stations and metro stops.

While she was here we went to the Central Library and during our visit we had a chance to see the Songs in the Key of L.A. exhibit, a collection of historic sheet music covers that offer a view of the role music has played in defining the image of Los Angeles and Southern California. We also caught the exhibit entitled The Fine Art of Film Posters, a collection of movie posters from 1913 to 1943. While we enjoyed the architecture and artwork of the Library, we also managed to squeeze in some light reading after Zadie found a book on modern dolls. Later that day we headed over for some drinks to The Standard hotel rooftop bar, but while we were able to see Obama playing ping-pong, we couldn't make it to the roof because of a private party that was taking place. It's a shame because that would have been the highest point I could think of in our city to take Zadie to. I promised her we'd stop by the next time she was in town.

In the photos you'll also find a few of Zadie at the Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach. While I had visited the park before, it was my first time at the Crystal Cove Beach Cottages. We had fun hanging out with fellow tourists and Zadie made a friend who thought she was adorable (of course) and who was happy to pose for a photo with her. Zadie seemed to enjoy the sun and the sand.

Lastly, a few photos of Zadie at our home during her stay. She hung out on our bookshelves a lot (avid reader that she is) and got along well with Ash our bunny baby. Zadie and I have a love of rabbits in common. Well that, and a love for hanging out in gardens.

Handmade cape by Gaia

Italy, October 2012 - Gaia meets Ada. January 2015 - Gaia gets in touch to send me the cape she made two years earlier. And what a treasure!

Handpainted postcard by Bianca.

And just a few days later, this letter made it into my letterbox and brightened up my day. This is a only a glimpse of what Bianca has been working on for the past months and I simply cannot wait to show you!

In the meantime, Zadie is living the dream in California
and Lulu is exploring Burma.

Hope you're well.
From Oslo with love,
