Today, it's been two years since Ada left me. Two years! Can you believe it? I would never have thought this project would turn into such an amazing collective experiment and I'd like to thank all of you for joining us along. To celebrate, I thought a give-away would be a nice idea, especially as Katrina gave me a few prints of Ada's stay in San Francisco and Andrea also offered some goodies from her Etsy shop.
To enter:
Leave a comment telling me about your favourite trip, real or imaginary. Tell me a story :) It doesn't have to be long and if you're shy, send me an email and I'll count you in.
As usual, you can get an extra entry by blogging or tweeting or sending paper airplanes either about this give-away or Ada's blog.
I'm not too picky, just do whatever you feel like but make sure you let me know about it.
The winner will receive:
(click on the links to have a closer look)
- Yellow Measuring Tape Headband & Vintage Heads Print - Gifts of Andrea
- Ada & Chico - Print by Katrina (previously unpublished)
- A $20 gift certificate to Mr Rabbit Sir.
- A Polaroid of your choice - By this, I mean that you tell me what you want me to take a Polaroid of and I'll do it and send it to you! Deal? Deal!
Remember to visit Andrea & Katrina
to thank them for making this give-away possible!
Andrea - The Art Of Staying Up All Night
Katrina - Pugly Pixel
The give-away will end on the 17th of November.
Spread the word, spread the love!

Thanks!
When I was younger, I dreamed about the perfect, wonderful and endless solo trip.
ReplyDeleteThen I begun to go abroad, with the college, by my own for my erasmus, and finally some real trip. Traveling alone was more scary and boring than I was expecting, I must say. When going abroad with someone else was discovering more than a country or people. It was a trip into me, my mind, my power and weakness. How to deal with the cold and tiring, with the hungry, how to stay calm when the other one just get on your nerves? This is now the favorite travel : discover more and more about me, and about the other. And the pleasure to come back home, safe, and with all these pictures.
Maybe one day I could share it with Ada also!
oh i have had so many wonderful holidays. I think one of the best holidays I had last year was when I went to Barcelona for a music festival. I got to see the most amazing bands play in one of my favourite cities in the WORLD! We spent the mornings leisurely getting ready for the day then off to the cafe for a lovely breakfast. In the afternoons we would lounge at the beach drinking beer and sangria. When it got too hot all we had to do was walk two steps and plunge ourselves into the ocean. It was bliss. Then in the evenings we would go out to the stadium where the festival was and party until the wee hours of the morning. I went with two of my dearest friends and made new ones along the way. It was a trip of a lifetime and I miss every single moment of it. Writing this comment makes me quite sad just thinking about how much fun it was and how I could probably never recreate it again.
ReplyDeleteI hope Ada is having a wonderful time. 2 years sure is one looooong vacation :)
happy anniversary, ada!!!
ReplyDelete♥ ♥ ♥
my favorite trip was to saudi arabia! great giveaway!

happy anniversary! i just found your blog through pugly pixel! what a fun idea!
ReplyDeletemy favorite trips were my 3 tours of duty in iraq. i learned soooo much about myself and the culture by being immersed in it. amazing people too!
courtney.a.dawson@gmail.com
I have had many amazing trips, but Berlin is my favourite. I've been there 6 times now and I feel I know it. I like to pretend I live there when I visit, except I don't have to do anything except enjoy the bars and shops and museums!
ReplyDeletep.s. Has Ada been to Scotland yet? She's always welcome with me!
I'm passing through from Katrina's blog and I love hearing about Ada's journey around the globe! If only Ada could pack me up in her suitcase and take me with her ;o) My most memorable trip was one I took with my college friends to Amsterdam! It was my first time in Europe and I was so unprepared! We stayed in a hostel (I had no idea what that was or that I would be sleeping with a room full of strangers) with no elevator ( I had a massive suitcase) and well, the rest of the trip was something out of a movie! However, I will never ever forget that trip! I had the best time and it opened my eyes to life outside of the states! Would love to go back there again with my friends :)
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable trip was my first trip to Singapore. I just loved that trip. I've been back several times but nothing touched the joy of that first one!
ReplyDeletehow fun! this summer we did one night in madrid, 2 nights in barcelona, 3 nights in paris and then flew to pittsburgh. the time in europe was too short, and next time we would stick to the one country per week rule. by the time we got a bit of spanish down, we had to switch to french. too tricky and tiring for us.
ReplyDeletei went to europe in high school. we started in pompeii, italy and went on a 2 week journey/raod trip to paris, france. man, it was fun and beautiful. wish i could go back and do it as an adult :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely spot I stumbled into!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite adventure was on top of an elephant overlooking Laos and Myanmar. I never realized you could be friends with such a creature. But alas, I left Thailand with a head full of memories and a very large BFF. And this was all too real :)
i cannot believe I get to hang out with Ada soon! Time just went flying by since we agreed that she would come to stay in NZ with me :) I am so looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteMy perfect trip began recently. My boyfriend & I began dating in July & it's been long-distance; we know one another from growing up, but he's now stationed at a Coast Guard base in New Hampshire, while I've just moved back to Ohio. He drove here mid-October to visit me for a week, & I decided, on a whim, to head back to New England with him. it was a 12-hour road trip - absolutely perfect, & we didn't tire of one another at all, stopping along the way at quirky rest stops & getting smashed pennies & buying funny souvenirs. I stayed in New Hampshire for two & a half weeks, just hanging out & enjoying the time together & acting like an old married couple - redoing his apartment, learning to cook, discovering fun places around his town. Getting to know one another & confirming that we made the right choice in dating, even if it's long distance. I came back to Ohio this evening, but we're already planning the next visit - including, we hope, a trip to Seattle for friends' wedding in the spring. Alllll the way across the country? We can do it. And we're excited about it!
ReplyDelete(I suppose you also will need to know how to reach me, should I happen to win! You can find me at suburbansweetheart(at)gmail(dot)com. Found you via Katrina & your blog is lovely!)
wow this project sounds so great :D i saw ada on pugly pixel and thought this was so cool.
ReplyDeletemy favorite trip would probably be when i went to hawaii. the beaches there are sooo beautiful. i even got to go on a submarine and scuba diving.
i love traveling though i don't get to do it much. in a few years i'm hoping to finally get to go to europe (france and italy mostly) with my high school french class (: someday i want to travel the world.
but yeah that's my story, my email's star.wishbringer@gmail.com (:
My favorite trip was the big road trip around Scandinavia I took this past summer with my husband. We used to live on the ocean in the US and now we're in the middle of Germany, so we really miss the sea. This summer's trip was awesome because we saw water every single day of our trip (and took tons of boat rides!). It was so rejuvenating!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, happy 2 years Ada!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite trip was my last - Krakow - I fell completely in love with it there and my cameras have never had so much fun :)
Great giveaway!!
p.s. I heart Andrea and Katrina!
I've been to some interesting places (Dominican Republic, Bahamas, St. Lucia...), but my favorite trip was traveling cross country by car to a family reunion in Iowa. I know - what??? My family caravaned across the US, equipping me and my cousins with walkie talkies. There was a lot of obnoxious singing, Chinese fire drills, and bathroom stops.
ReplyDeleteMy gammy is one of my best friends, and I know that trip back to her hometown meant everything. I wouldn't trade those memories for all the fancy trips in the world. :)
Happy happy anniversary, Ada! <3
Hmm... my favorite trip was to Cape Town, South Africa. It was such a different place and really beautiful. When the clouds came tumbling over Table Mountain it really looked like a giant pot was boiling over. I had many fascinating and memorable experiences there, not all happy, because of the racial divides, but all very interesting, eye opening and mind expanding. I spent a lot of time talking to the housekeeper of the family I was staying with. She was Kaza (the local native tribe) and took me to visit her family at the Shantytown she lived in (a whole other story) and patiently endured many many questions about the culture, history and race relations from me. Once there was something on TV and it was in Afrikaans so I couldn't understand it. People were burning some sort of dried bush in their doorways so I asked Lolli (the family called her Lolli, short for Lollipop, she wouldn't tell me her real name) what they were doing. She told me they were burning a special bush to keep the witches/demons away at night. I said that was interesting and that in the US some people said prayers before bed, asking God, or whatever they believed in, to protect them during the night. She laughed and said that was funny because white people don't have witches or anything they needed protection from. I said that I thought everyone, regardless of their color, had something that haunted them but she just said, no, white people don't have problems. And that was the end of the conversation. It was very impactful for me.

I fell in love with Japan two autumns ago. It is the most enchanting place I've ever been. I visited my friend in Nagoya and we took a trip to Kyoto. Amazing, so beautiful. The food - ah! - the food, so amazing.

This is such a cute giveaway! And I love how you included a polaroid of the winners choice.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my favorite trip was either to Japan, because it is such an amazing country with so much to see, taste and enjoy. And getting to try on this amazing kimono didn't hurt either.
Or the family trip to Denmark, with my mom, aunts and cousin. We stayed in a little wooden cottage and even made plum-jam. Oh, good times... :D
Lately I've had fun vacations too, but nothing beats these two from when I was little.
I left a little tweet about this: http://twitter.com/b_e_nightowl
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ada!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the giveaway and prizes Adeline... most amazing stuff and I gotta tell you that the coolest part is that polaroid you promise. I would most definitely ask for a photo of you with one of your dolls.
Ok, on the subject of favorite travels. I gotta be honest here, one of my favorite trips ever was about 9 or 10 years ago to Santa Barbara with an ex-boyfriend (now friend). He was fun to travel (though apparently he hates to travel) but my favorite part of the event was the Radiohead concert we saw (it was outdoors and we had great seats), also it was my first time eating Thai food. Pineapple Rice and Pad Thai are life altering. Also, visiting Santa Barbara's historic mission was amazing. Something about and old and beautiful church is very moving. I think of all the heartache and joys it's witnessed through the years. Then on a very shallow note, I got to shop at the outlets on the way back... designer discounts are fun. :)
PS. I wrote about this giveaway today also! Thank you again Adeline for letting me be a part of your project!
Happy Birthday Ada!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite vacation was a road trip from Texas to Montana with my mom. We stopped at every fabric store along the way.
yay i just tweet about this http://twitter.com/lauratj
ReplyDeleteMy perfect imaginary trip is go inside my fauvorite book (invisible Cities from Italo Calvino) and stay in each city few days. Jump into those writing places are the best plan for me.

My most memorable trip was to Japan with my husband this year. We had been so lucky to experience snow and take photo with cherry blossoms which was rare or not even suppose to be at that place/time ^_^ Right place, right timing and right companion
ReplyDeleteok so this could be either a real or imaginary trip right? here's what my around-the-world-in-one-day trip would be if i could teleport myself from one place to another!
ReplyDeletein the morning i'll start with a nice breakfast in one of the cafes in new york city and then go for a bit of walk to visit MOMA. and then i'll teleport myself to hawaii for a long nice lazy day on the beach, drinking some chilled coconut water. then i'll teleport to japan for some lunch, and lots of sashimi! walk around a bit to see temples / castles (i haven't been to japan, would really love to go!!), then it's time for afternoon tea and i'll teleport myself to paris to have some tea and macarons. and maybe walk around to do a bit of shopping, and theennn finally i'll teleport to barcelona for a dinner, hmmm tapas and some paella. yes, i do love food :D
my favourite trip was a road trip with my mum when i was 10 years old (back in the early 90's)... mum was invited to her high school reunion, in some far-away hilly country part of Victoria that I cant even remember the name of.. my dad hadnt been interested in accompanying her so I happily volunteered. she bought me a brand new outfit for the occasion which i still remember. white linen shorts, white polo shirt and white sand shoes.. i felt so fresh in that all-white outfit..
ReplyDeletewe drove all day through the beautiful vineyard country, listening to the eurythmics. (still now when i hear them, it brings me straight back).. the reunion was at a beautiful mansion surrounded by gardens on the top of a hill and we spent a lovely weekend there but the most special thing about the trip was that i had all my mum's attention (and didnt have to share her with my brothers)... she told me stories about her childhood that i'd never heard before and i felt like i'd been let into her secret world. i would love to do the trip again now, 20 years later, with my mum!
my dream trip/vacation would to just keep traveling. i want to be able to see the world through the eyes of others. to just keep traveling and be spontaneous.
ReplyDeleteI dream about this trip since I'm 13 : taking the Transiberian Train from Moscow to Vladivostok, even going further to China, through Mongolia !
ReplyDeleteI would go with my tiny backpack, look up at all those different landscapes, taking tones of pictures, talk to so many different people, feel asleep on my seet and so on ! I would stop for a few days anywhere I feel to do so! Visit the town or the country side, stay at autocthonous'...
This would be like a living myth all the way down. Crossing a continent by train... !
15 years after, I'm still thinking of doing this !
Ada would be more than welcome to accompany me then ;)
